But i had a positive OPK result many days ago? I'm totally confused. It was low again today. not as low, but still low?
A + OPK does not mean you ovulated. OPKs measure the lutenizing hormone, which increases prior to ovulation, but our bodies can be preparing to ovulate (and the surge of LH picked up on an OPK) and then, for various reasons, not actually ovulate. But there can be other reasons why your temps aren't making sense. Do you temp at the same time every day? Do you always temp with at least 3 hours of uninterrupted sleep? Do you breathe during your mouth at night? (Vaginal temps may give you more accurate readings.) Any of these things could also be signs that your temperatures are not accurate. Or, maybe you ovulated and you aren't producing enough progesterone this month, so your temps aren't stable. But based on your original post, that's probably not it. Some women also experience a "fallback rise," which is caused by a secondary estrogen surge after ovulation. I've frequently had fallback rise patterns in my chart, but never one that lasted more than one day. Are you monitoring your cervical fluid as well? Did it dry up once you noticed your initial rise? Honestly, I question whether you actually ovulated -- you had a slow rise, then a fever, and now your temps are back down. I think it's possible your body was fighting off illness and that caused your temps to rise and ovulation to be delayed. Keep temping and seeing where things go. I had an anovulatory cycle last year and it was really frustrating, so I understand your concerns, but it's likely that this is just one strange cycle and that everything will be fine again next month. Good luck to you!
