1) Get a used, portable dishwasher (roll-up kind) from craigslist until we remodel. These seem to sell for about $200 used. Kind of a pain, but beats having nothing. 
2) Buy the dishwasher we would plan to have after the remodel now, have it installed knowing that we'll likely have to reinstall it later when the kitchen is reconfigured.

I'm not sure how much a new dishwasher install costs (with no direct water lines running to it, etc). That may help decide - but do I need a plumber and an appliance guy? Will one of them be willing to pull out a cabinet to replace with the dishwasher?[/quote]
