ee-nes is the way i would naturally pronounce it, though, because that's the way i've always heard it pronounced except for 1 person (a very old redneck relative of mine) who pronounces it eye-nez. i'm not 'trying' to do anything but i do think it sounds prettier (and less country) pronounced ee-nes[/quote]

Well most people on here think Eye-Nez is better.  You asked....so are you still spelling it Inez?  You know your kid will be correcting people her whole life.  Why would you want that?  Whatevs you are trying too hard.[/quote]

yes, but before i asked this question i didn't know that most people thought it was pronounced eye-nez because, like I said, I've only heard it pronounced that way by one person who I don't consider an authority on the name. and I maintain i'm not "trying too hard" because the only reason I'd choose that pronunciation (if we choose this name at all, which we might not!) is because I think it sounds better, not because I'm trying to be something I'm not or trying to sound cool or whatever is implied by me 'trying too hard.' but no, i dont want my kid correcting people her whole life...so maybe we'll go w/ another name. maybe we'll spell it Ines. Then it will be pronounced Eye-Ness.  If you want it pronounced your way it would be Enes...she will still be correcting.[/quote]
