IMO, I can't stand the loft bed. My MIL INSISTED my son to get a proper bed and of course DH thinks the same...why does it have to be a freaking loft bed. Reasons I hate it:
-Climbing up there to put the damn sheets on there is difficult since lifting the mattress is hard. The bed is against the wall since the room is small. 
-Do you think the kid wants to climb down and go to the bathroom in the middle of the night?! Nooo. Delaying my night training since he's still in pull ups at night. 
-The sides seem to be hard (it is real wood) but if he has a nightmare and becomes a flounder, he might hit his head on the wooden side, which he has happened. 
-When he gets older, we will still need to upgrade to a different bed by teens.

-And MIL gives him a full size blanket last year before the loft bed came into place. This blanket is so thick, he trips on it if not careful.

Sorry, that was just a vent. There are 3 reason I like it:
It has drawers and shelves to put his clothes and bed. 
The wood actually look nice. And the #1 reason is my son LOVES it. But, I hate it--but it's not my bed.
