Is there a way you can call 9111 and just give them a heads up-they can do the detective work-was just going to report this as a child is possibly at risk. It may just be an attention seeking nut, but perhaps she is serious. Please do not turn your back on a child in need-you don't want "blood on your hands". Do something even if it will take a few minutes of your time and be annoying to you-help an innocent kid!
Blood on my hands? That's a bit harsh isn't it? Keep in mind, that this all occurred hours ago (the poster's last post was over 4 1/2 hours ago). It's too late to be calling anyone now. Moreover, her husband was on the way home. It's much better to let him handle it. I have been dealing with threads like this for years. I have struggled with what I should do and sweated as I waited for posters to show up again after they made threats of suicide. In every case, the poster has reappeared (once after a week or so during which I subjected myself to a lot of guilt). There will probably be a time when the poster actually goes through with it. I certainly don't relish that day, but these are simply not situations in which I'm going to involve myself.
I guess you have a point-the "Blood on hands" was from some zoo post a while back-(was just a play on words-clever no?) At any rate, I hope the lady is ok (and the kid)-perhaps threads like these should immediately be given suicide hotline #'s from MD/DC/VA a suggestion to call 911 and a wish for good luck-then lock the thread I guess-seems like they want attention but do need help. It's the kids I worry about.
