Everyone knows that at admissions on every level, there are always applicants who fall right around the borderline, and whether they actually get in or not is kind of luck of the draw. As I understand it, the applications were done in different years, and he has no way of knowing whether the one school that accepted him as a black applicant might have also accepted him as an Indian applicant that year because the composition of their applicant pool was slightly different.
