My DS's daycare is requiring everyone to get a strep test because they've had a few cases. Is this normal? It costs $25 for a well visit and my child is not even sick! The daycare says someone could be a "carrier" and transmitting it to other children.
My guess is some child has gotten strep more than once and their pediatrician recommended to the parent to ask the daycare that everyone get tested. Your child might be asymptomatic - have it but not show signs. Undiagnosed strep can be dangerous.
