See a doctor. Have a blood workup to check things like vitamin/iron levels and thyroid. In my case, I was then referred to an endocrinologist who did some more specific tests, including blood sugar and cortisol levels. If that doesn't locate anything, you might also try a sleep study to see if you've started developing sleep apnea. But never assume that a change in energy or other symptoms is "just aging." Extreme fatigue can be a symptom of a larger problem.
PP can you share what your ultimate diagnosis was? I not OP but have also been exhausted, gotetn thyroid and iron and cortisol checked and all within normal. Family doctor seems unconcerned, and I am left with the impression that it is just part of aging.
No, not part of the normal aging process. Are those the only things the doctor checked? Other things that come to mind immediately as possible culprits are mono, vitamin B12 deficiency, and hyperparathyroidism. I second the sleep study--apnea is a major contributor to fatigue. Another possibility is a chronic sinus problem--note that you can have one without the obvious symptoms you usually think of. Also, have you traveled outside the country? My father had fatigue for months, and was finally diagnosed with amoebic dysentery; there are other diseases you can pick up when you travel that can make you feel very off.
