He still wants to be friends with those kids, and will seek them out that much more at school because they're still exciting to him. Think about yourself with the people around you -- can you force a friendship with someone you're just kind of meh on simply by spending a lot of time with them? Or will you get tired of them all the time and start avoiding them? And you stop caring about your good friends just because you don't see them for a few weeks, or are you just happy to see them again when you do? Kids aren't just lumps of clay we can mold as we like, they have their own emotional lives with their own interpersonal connections and preferences.[/quote]
