my 4yo son is very low tone. my older DC uses a trail a bike to go on long rides with us. i think my DS is probably too tall for the bike seat on the back of my bike (he is super tall). he definitely is not strong enough to use a trail a bike for any length of time. do i need to buy him a trailer? i would love to use a recumbent trail a bike or something along those lines...i saw something by Weehoo https://www.bikekidshop.com/weehoo-igo-venture-bike-trailer-cycle-2014-p-3446.html but man it is pricey!!! i am wondering if there is something else out there. thanks!
I would think the trail a bike would work, the adult would have to work harder. Why do yo think he would not be strong enough to sit on the trail a bike for long periods? How long are your long rides?
OP here, it is not the pedaling but just holding on to the handlebar AND keeping himself upright/balanced so that he does not fall off. his hand grasping ability is only 9% and he has very weak core muscles. no way can he remain upright for very long.
Okay, now I understand. I agree, the recumbent looks cool. I like the PP's idea of a bigger seat, that makes the trip nicer for him- he can see better.
