I hope this request is not too specific, but I am desperately seeking a good therapist or counselor to help my mother sort through feelings and deal with one of my difficult siblings (her child). It is causing her a great deal of stress and really tearing the family apart. I am supportive but can't be her only source of venting and support. She is open and hopes to find someone in Virginia. Thanks!
I think the kind of therapist you seek depends on the reason for the "difficult child". IME, dealing with mood disordered family members required seeing a therapist that specialized in mood disorders (even though I didn't have a mood disorder.)
