Not really. When it's warm out I will run a mile on my lunch break just because it's a quick, easy way to knock off some calories and break up the day. I'm ok with such a short duration because I already work out every morning. But I would in no way think it was a way to get me in shape or lose weight doing that alone. The intensity you would have to work at would be so high you would need time to recover and stretch in order not to injure yourself and to reap the benefits. And there isn't anyone that can't find more than 10 minutes in a day. Aim for 30 at a minimum.
Oh, please, PP, just shut up! OP, 10 minutes a day is great! If you can do that, you are doing something for your body, and the more you do it, the easier it will be, and you'll find yourself sneaking two or more 10 minute workouts into your day every day. Even 10 minutes 3 times a week will begin to see results in your fitness. Not huge results, but you'll see improvements. As many PPs (except the one quoted above) have said, something is better than nothing. Keep at it, OP!
It's been over a week since I've started my 10 minute workouts and I've been really enjoying them. The biggest thing for me is that I have no excuse to not do a 10 minute workout. I've done a variety on popsugar--from plyodance to tabata to yoga. My son saw me doing the yoga and joined in (he's 3) so I found some yoga videos for kids and we've done those together. I haven't seen any difference on the scale but I do feel better and all of the stretching has helped my back feel better. TMI, but I got my period today so I've been retaining water and hope to see at least a small difference on the scale next week. I also took my measurements so that I can begin tracking them. Like I said, I need to make this a daily habit and then increase the time. Yesterday and today I did my own 10 minute video and then a 20 minute video with my son. This weekend has been difficult to eat clean due to the holiday, but I've stuck with it. My diet really isn't all that bad usually-I just have to cut out snacking after dinner. I will never be the type to workout in the morning and then run a mile on my lunch break, so I have to find a plan that works for me. I just need to think that what I've been doing this week is better than what I was doing 2 weeks ago. Hopefully I'll start to see some results soon. Thanks to those who are cheering me on--I definitely need it! -OP
