Our DC has an IEP for mild reading and writing learning disabilities. Also has speech language challenges (but not covered by IEP). It has been a challenge getting IEP from DC's primary school, but we finally got it. Interested in hearing from families with Deal students on IEPs? Does DEAL have learning support coordinator(s)? Are students assigned learning strategists or case managers? Or do families have to advocate with 6 separate teachers to ensure IEP accommodations are met?
This is my son. He's a 7th grader at Deal. I could not be more happy with the supports that he is receiving. Boy, he almost hates it because they make sure he gets the work done and gets the extra that he needs. One of the things I love most is that he doesn't know he has an IEP. He knows he needs extra help, but doesn't feel like he is "special ed". Deal has been great! I love his coordinator. She calls herself the "helicopter teacher".
