I went to UW-Madison and I'm not going to lie, winters can be brutal. The good news is that they know how to deal with the snow. It gets VERY cold but you get used to it, and you learn how to dress for it. Madison is a GREAT town, any season other than winter is gorgeous, and the famers market is by far the best I've seen anywhere :) Also, Madison natives love winter. They get out and do stuff, because there is stuff to do.
+ 1 from another Madison grad. And, fwiw, I never hated winters as much in Madison as I so in DC. I think it's because they know how to manage them there, and people adapt and don'tet the weather stop them from doing things for 4 months each year like they do here!
