I agree with the verdict. I am quite appalled that Routh’s mother did not tell Kyle and Littlefield about the problems her son had had - violent outbursts, threatening behavior. How hard it must have been for Taya Kyle to hear her testimony. I am also appalled that the VA hospital he had gone to did not do more to treat this person. Such a loss.
And I am appalled that Chris Kyle, who had no formal psychiatric training, decided to put a gun in the hands of a man he himself characterized as "nuts."
If Routh’s mother had disclosed her son’s real behavior, he would not have.
You really don't know that, and he clearly characterized Routh as insane. He should have removed all weapons from the outing immediately.
And YOU don’t know what Routh’s mother told Kyle about her son. SHE asked him for help. SHE knew what the plans were. SHE should have said something. The evidence and the testimony were pretty clear. Routh knew what he did was wrong. You said it yourself - Kyle was NOT a psychiatrist. How many times have you said that someone was “nuts?” It doesn’t mean that person is going to go off the grid and kill someone.
If I were with someone who I thought was nuts, you are nuts if you think I would then put a gun in his hands. That was poor decision making. By your standards, you must claim that Nancy Lanza was blameless, too.
Oh, please. Your leaps in logic are crazy. Lanza’s mother knew her son’s issues. Just like Routh’s mother knew her son’s issues. If you wish to start a new thread on Lanza, feel free. This is about the conviction of Kyle’s killer.
Nope. She knew her son had autism. She didn't know he was nuts. Chris Kyle knew his killer was nuts based on his personal observations but gave him a gun anyway. It is poor decision making. Stop trying to pretend that it was in any way shape or form anything else. Chris Kyle is dead in part because HE decided that he should address someone else's mental health issues, despite his lack of training in that. He then gave his killer a gun.
Did you even read the full investigative report that came out last year about Lanza? It placed the blame squarely on Nancy and Peter Lanza who KNEW for YEARS that their son was withdrawing from society, engaging in delusional fantasies, experiencing mental deterioration, etc. She absolutely DID KNOW he was "nuts" and battled the school systems actively against measures they were attempting to put in place to help him before eventually withdrawing him and allowing him to sit isolated in his room, which is when doctors believe his delusions manifested into the plan to murder the children at the school. It was well and far beyond "he had autism."
