You put them in private school, because the public won't meet their needs. We had our kids tested independently (WISC IV), got IQ of 128 and 133, and they didn't qualify (on appeal). We knew they were much more capable than the work they were getting, so we moved to private for a few years. Middle and High school are great for us back in public school.[/quote]

The alternative would be to do outside supplementation and lots of extra curriculars. That's what my parents did when I as a child and there was no such thing as G&T programs (at least here I lived).  If you otherwise like the public school and the child wants to stay with his/her friends, this could work and would probably be cheaper than private.  If the private schools in DC are anything like the people on the private school forum, I want to avoid them like the plague.[/quote]
