For example, when FCPS adopted a plan in early 2013 to move some kids out of Fairfax HS, they gave students the option to move for the 2013-14 year, made the changes mandatory for 2014-15, and grandfathered rising juniors and seniors in the fall of 2014. So if you didn't like the idea of your kid attending Fairfax as a freshman and switching to another school as a sophomore this past fall, you had the option to send your child to the new school as a freshman in the fall of 2013.
