Binge drinking and "hook-up" culture is a problem at the college level, but frankly it's not new. I lived in a single sex dorm for the 1st 2 years of college and it didn't stop either thing way back then. The world should not be viewed in such stark, black & white terms. There are many more factors involved for the problems and it's naive and silly to think that all the problems will be solved by separating men and women….

Also, my DD is currently in a coed dorm and she says it's a perfectly normal set-up of people. Some people are big partiers and others are not. It has nothing to do with the living situation. Now…she has been raised to be friends with boys and not be afraid of them so she wouldn't be uncomfortable in this scenario. Most people who are uncomfortable with it are, in my experience, rather repressed or have been raised in a way which believes the mixing of the sexes is taboo or shameful...[/quote]
