I'm the PP above whose kid goes to Ross.

He sees both a psychiatrist and a psychologist.  The former sees him once a month, although he started at once every two weeks.  Other than the initial intake, which lasted longer, her appointments last about 30 minutes.  She monitors the medication, looks for side effects, makes decisions about when to titrate up or down.  She gives some very basic advice about behavior concerns, things like telling him that a consistent wake up and bedtime will help with the insomnia and somnolence that are very common for kids with mental health issues, but there's no therapy or counseling.

He also sees a psychologist once a week. His psychologist sees him for a 50 minute session and works directly on the CBT.

He needs both.  His psychologist can't prescribe.  His psychiatrist might be able to do the CBT, but since she charges 3 times the hourly rate of the psychologist, we'll never find out!  Anyway, it's not her specialty and she has less experience in it than the psychologist.[/quote]
