Our senior dog already has a lick granuloma on her leg. We keep it covered, but she always finds a way to it. Bitter apple / ! no-chew.. She goes right through.

She recently got happy tail and has made it MUCH worse chewing at dressings, etc.

I'm worried about amputation. But it seems that the more we care for and dress the wound, the more determined she is to get at it. Cone of shame seems our only option, but at the same time, seems awful without an surgical need.in my heart I know it's fine. In my mind it seems.. Mean. These are all things that would heal if she'd leave them alone.

Help me get over this. I know it's the best thing. She had breast cancer surgery last year and left it alone. I just don't know why she's made the happy tail and a mosquito bite I totally difficult things to heal?!!

I need tough love folks. Talk to me about the cone. Or any other suggestions? I've seen belt/ ring solutions for happy tail.[/quote]
