I think I, sadly, agree with you, PP.  I just don't know how to pull back without getting the drama.  Is this one of those "no-contact required" things?  I haven't dealt with many alcoholics before.[/quote]

When he calls, be busy after approximately 30 seconds.  As in the doorbell rang, the stove is pouring smoke busy.  Hang up the phone busy.  Do not provide sympathy.  Say things like  "Wow, that sounds really hard.  What are you going to do about it?  You'll have to let me know sometime."[/quote]
