ok, I'll be the first to ask. wtf is APUSH? and no, not going to google it.
Advanced Placement United States History. It's an advanced class offered to high school students in high schools which have the Advanced Placement curriculum (as opposed to the International Baccalaureate program, or another advanced curriculum). An AP course is supposed to be the equivalent of an introductory-level university class in the subject. This particular class is normally taken by students in 10th or 11th grade (although some schools allow students to take the class in 9th grade, and I don't think a student in 12th grade would be restricted from taking the class). Each AP course has a corresponding standardized exam administered nationally and managed by College Board; students who earn a high enough score on the exam, as determined by the university they eventually attend, can generally either earn university credit for the course or place out of the introductory course and go directly to the next level class. More info about APUSH here: https://secure-media.collegeboard.org/digitalServices/pdf/ap/ap-us-history-course-and-exam-description.pdf
My kid is in a HS Magnet IB program. The students do not take IB exams until 11the and 12th grade. My IB student has taken AP exams since 9th grade.
