No, you do not pay the in-state rate. You pay the OOS rate, and DC Tag provides 10k towards it. But that program is FIFO as it is a limited source each year. [/quote]

No. Using your example, DC Tag will pay 10k of the 20k, and you pay the remainder. Your remaining balance would be 10k. 20k less 10k equals 10k. [/quote]

HUH???  I'm confused.  There would be an extra 2k, right?  I thought the DC TAG was only to try and make up the difference between the costs.  If the difference is only 8k, why would they give me 10k?  Oh geez, I must be stupid or something because I don't get it.  DD is going to be in trouble with this financial aid stuff.  I'm going to need to stay in the college counselors office.[/quote]

Think of it as $5K per semester. However, if the OOS tuition is less than that then you would only get the amount needed to cover the tuition amount. The money can be used [b]only for tuition[/b] - not for room and board or expenses. So, if the tuition comes to $8K then you will only get $4K per semester.
