Hey everyone - I have a related question. I'm in the last day of open season, and in the middle of a FET cycle that I have already paid for through MD IPA (costs about $1,700 with insurance at SG). However, MD IPA is $600/month vs my other plan (a PPO - covers much more in general) which is $320/month for family. The other plan only covers some meds related to IVF. I have 8 frozen embryos, and if this one doesn't work out (I had a miscarriage with IVF over the summer) I will have to do another FET cycle next year (assuming there are leftover embryos). I have gotten pregnant both times with IVF (one miscarriage, one kid) so I think I have a pretty good chance, but I am getting on in years...A FET cycle is $4,500 w/o insurance at SG, but I'd be paying $3,350 in extra insurance annually if I go with MD IPA, which doesn't do me any good if I do get pregnant. I'm wondering if it is worth betting that I will get pregnant for a better insurance that doesn't need referrals and covers my physical therapy (which would save another $1,500/month). If I don't get pregnant, then I will be out at least $1,000...but if I do get pregnant, I will be out $3,350 in additional insurance payments. Ack. Is it stupid to tempt fate and give up MD IPA when I won't be doing a pregnancy test for another month?
