1. If you spend more, you can get a mattress that doesn't transfer motion. We have a Serta I Series that is great for this and had a Stearns and Foster before. Mattresses with this feature are around twice as much as those without-plan on spending around $2k or more.

2. You do not need a box spring for a platform bed. King box springs are typically split, so two XL twins anyhow, otherwise you'll never get them into your bedroom.

3. Go to a mattress store so you can test them out. They all price match, so find the store you like best and the price you like best and tell them how much you want to pay. I know some say Costco has good prices, but I've never seen the beds set up there, so not sure how you test them out.

4. I don't know this one.

5. Not that you asked, but switching to King is magical. We upgraded not too long ago and I LOVE it. [/quote]
