The marriage between the Nordic god and the brunette was a rebound and not really a love match, but she tried to make it work.  She tried to take his daughter as her own but he has been thwarting that relationship and the daughter is suffering.  He indicated in the last episode that he is really bitter over her lingering feelings for Moray (brown haired guy) and he is making the brunette pay.
