He said that my custody situation was a deal breaker because it doesn't work for the military. I think it wasn't the whole truth because I was upfront about it from the beginning, specifically asked that we discuss it should we get serious, and it wouldn't impact the future for several years. He did not discuss it before deciding to end our relationship over it.

Thank you on your perspective. It is hard not to feel like I've failed given that I'm single. I know I need to heal but feel pressure to settle down given that I am getting older and very much so desire a family.[/quote]
