To the first poster who responded to you:  perhaps you were having a bad day or perhaps you don't have experience with special needs children and treatments, but I found your comment singularly unhelpful.  Do I wish that television weren't so prevalent in our lives, generally?  Of course.  Do I wish my child didn't need distractions (for that matter, do I wish she didn't need dental work) to get through what's 'normal' for others?  You bet.  Did I EVER think I would be posting "yes - this'll help your child from freaking out to the point that the dentist can't work on her teeth and that she won't have a variant of an anxiety attack before, during and after every appointment?  Of course not.  But it happened.  Support -- including from strangers -- helps.
