Hi, We have a 6 yr ASD DD who is very low functioning. We are getting 10 hrs of ABA/wk through my Employer's Kaiser (VA Autism Mandate Law which covers upto 35k/year through ages 2-6 years). She is going to be 7 years in July. After she turned 7, she will not be eligible for ABA through Kaiser. It is so difficult to get Speech Therapy through Kaiser as there are only 2-3 facilities in Northern Virginia who accept Kaiser and they all have long waiting list. Now during annual enrollment, my husband's company added ABA benefit through Aetna. But it covers only 60-90 ABA sessions/year. Speech and OT are 50 sessions/year each. We are thinking at least we can get Speech from out-of-network and get covered if we go with Aetna. There is no additional cost if my DH adds our ASD kid in Aetna as he and another kid are already on Aetna due to their medical issues. Is it possible to have our 6 yr ASD DD on both our insurance plans so that we can get ABA till July through Kaiser and then use Aetna for the remaining? Are there any implications/issues you see if the Kid is on both insurance plans? We are very thankful that our employers added ABA in our benefits package. Thanks!
