OP here. Thank you for explaining it in more detail.  yes this is exactly what I was feeling and trying to say in my OP.

it was just weird as all get out.  I refuse to believe that she thinks SHE is the normal one and that everyone else needs to become more "liberal and progressive" like she expressed in the show.[/quote]
