Did not get into my IB PK4 (WoTP school); did not get into HRCS (non common lottery). Both with decent WL numbers (mid teens). Had a good private preschool option so it worked out though I would have liked to have saved $$$. Sort of worried that the HRCS will call us 2 weeks in; it is immersion.
why are you worried? pull her out even if you dind't get insureance. you will save the next 10 uyrs
Unless she's planning on bailing on HRCS in favor of WotP DCPS for K, when the spot is guaranteed. I don't begrudge her family from taking advantage of seeing her tax dollars at work, but it just sucks for HRCS to get a bunch of people looking for a free solution until they can go to their IB school. But whatev
Actually, that's not my plan. HRCS is immersion in my native language (that I haven't done a very good job of speaking at home with my kids as I'm not very fluent). It would be amazing for my child to learn the language. But it would be a big shock to the system right now, and she's happily ensconced in her preschool class (which has already started). If the immersion doesn't go well, then yes, we have insurance with our IB K. But I'm more worried about the short-term adjustment. Anyway...it probably won't come to pass regardless.
