My son takes Keppra for seizures. He never takes it at school and he has had a Diastat (which is in case of a seizure at school), which is kept in the nurse's office. My son had 1 seizure 3.5 years ago and his doctor is taking him off Keppra slowly over 6 weeks. I mentioned it to the school nurse, because I wanted her to be aware that he was going off his seizure meds, so if something happened at school, she would be aware it was a possibility he may have a seizure (very slight). Now she wants me to give her a note from the doctor stating the medication levels for each week. I really don't understand why she would ask for this. I'm not sure she is a nurse, maybe more like a health technician. In 4 weeks he will be off the meds. I think she is asking for something she has no business asking for. Am I being paranoid or is there a good reason for this? They have never known the amount of Keppra he took before since he only takes it at home. We saw a geneticist this year and he counseled us on if the school system ever says they will do a purge of his medical file, take it and don't tell them too much in the future. (This was related to genetic issues, but I get that it is best not to have medical knowledge follow him from school to school. He said "be vague" and he will send a note explaining my son has an issue and it is undiagnosed. This is Mont. Co. Public Schools - elementary
