Dd was born with a urinary issue and goes to the bathroom at least once a hour. I discussed it with the teacher and the school nurse and provided documentation from her pediatrician. Today dd was told to wait until the end of class to go to the bathroom because she just went. I am sure it is somewhat disruptive but SHE HAS TO GO! Dd came back home and her water bottle and juice were untouched she did not drink anything at school because she did not want to urinate!
NP here. This is no lie. My daughter was in K and was having bowel issues by end of September. We asked if she could have a water bottle in her cubby or table to encourage drinking. That she wasn't used to only drinking about 6oz at lunch during the whole day. I was told no - school policy. Fast forward to end of November and we were having bouts of dry heaving and anxieties with bathroom. Tried getting in as much water/juice from 5-8pm. Took her to pediatrician again. X-ray showed a 70% bowel obstruction r/t dehydration and anxiety/pain with school bathroom Guess who got the school's policy to allow water bottles in K 10yrs ago? Be proactive. Be sincere. A good teacher will listen.
