We grind our coffee the night before, but one Costco, Pentagon City, I visit has grinders. I think Springfield does, too. I like the Mayorga Cafe Cubano fairly well (also it's local, bonus points!), but I LOVE the Mayorga Mocha Java (not flavored, just a good roast) which they have sometimes. I also really like the Gold Coffee Kenya Nyeri AA Single Estate. It's very, very good. A very clean but full bodied cup. I'm not sure how they compare in price to SBUX, but I think they are slightly more than Costco. I'll confess I've never tried the Costco coffees! The smell of them roasting (burning?) it in Pentagon City is enough to turn my stomach every time. It's interesting that you like Cafe Verona but not bitter coffees, because I think most Starbucks dark roasts are fairly bitter. I also think grinding coffee ahead of time makes it more bitter. I really like the Capresso Burr Grinder. It's not really expensive for a Burr Grinder but does a great job. Good if you like different types of brewing methods. Like we do French Press on the weekends and drip during the week. Occasionally pull out the espresso machine.
