[quote=Anonymous]I spend around 300 every two weeks at whole foods. We eat most meals with the exception of Saturday and Sunday lunch at home. When I shopped Safeway /giant I was still at 200 a week and would do a monthly meat trip to wf for 300 dollars. We also shop Costco as well and never leave there under 100.00 dollars. The prepared and processed food to me is what drives up my final bill. My husband I both will get wings off the bar or spend 12.99 each for ribs dinner . Sometimes I get containers of pasta or chicken/tuna salad that will drive bill up. Different products like cherries/ grapes/ certain type of tomatoes will drive up bill. Packaged cookies and snacks will also add up. We are a family of two with an infant. This past Saturday I was happy that I spent 200 for produce and family packs of chicken/beef ribs. That's included two bone in ribeyes that was 24 dollars. I don't buy canned or frozen produce so I'm sure that makes bill higher. It was not a full shopping trip. Today I went to food lion because I live 45 min from old town whole foods. I spent another 85 dollars on organic snacks, milk, juice etc. From my experience chicken, milk, eggs and the 365 brand is cheaper at whole foods. Packaged and proceeded non organic foods are cheaper at regular stores. For instance the 365 brand pasta is 99cents whereas brand muellers or Barrila is usually 170.00 when not on sale at Safeway /Giant. You'll never find 99 cents cookies, chips, juice , bottled sauces etc at whole foods like at regular stores. So if I wanted to cut back I would avoid anything packaged like snacks, buy can /frozen and eat mostly chicken from whole foods , only buy the dirty dozen from wf and buy seafood from regular grocery store.
