Completely implausible. Hamas would lose almost all of those fighters and then Israel would attack Gaza and there would be no defenders. Hamas wants to fight urban warfare as it is now. [/quote]

The actual number is  over 200 terrorists using multiple tunnels simultaneously, with the objective to capture/kill as many civilians as possible, which is where PP got thousands. They planned to kill thousands of Israelis.

You of course are also aware that:

1). Tunnels have been found under many Kubbutzim, supporting the prisoner's confessions
2)  on July 19th, two IDF soldiers were killed in a surprise assault by Hamas through one tunnel from Gaza into the Eshkol district of Israel
