I am inclined to disagree with you. While the individual involved made a private decision, its ramifications are necessarily somewhat public given that it has an externally-noticeable impact. The individual has apparently discussed the topic at a public or semi-public meeting. Second, I don't think the individual should be treated like some sort of crazy uncle who is hidden in the basement, privately tolerated, but not talked about outside the family. I think the individual should be supported and celebrated. I'm glad to see that is what is mostly happening in the thread As everyone here knows, DCUM is not a touchy-feely environment. Posters have little need to act in a politically-correct manner. To the contrary, our posters freely expose their true feelings. I think it says a lot that in such an environment, this individual is largely finding support.
Oh, really now, Jeff! Funny. I am the PP you asked not to participate further in this discussion, because my "tone" was not correct. I take that to mean that because you disagree with what I wrote, well... ta ta!!
You can take it however you want, but your referral to the teacher as "a freak show" was outside the bounds of appropriate discussion. As I understand it, "freaks" are people who differ significantly from the norm. As the discussion in question demonstrates, the norm here is acceptance of this individual. You, on the other hand, are an outlier, otherwise known as a freak. The freak show that should concern you is the one that you were putting on before I intervened.
