I guess it sort of feels like she didn't trust me to do something for him or help the kids do something... and another way of inserting herself fully into his life and pushing me away.  She does not give me a Mother's Day gift-- which I am fine with -- and frequently seems to compete with me for DH's attention.  She makes a big show of not wanting to 'intrude" and won't accept an invitation to join us for dinner, but then makes a big deal about having a 5 year old take responsibility for giving DH a gift that DD did not pick out and doesn't know what is... and saying it is from her (DD), her sister, and MIL.

Read the other thread and see that it is not uncommon so I'm trying to be less annoyed and let it go.[/quote]

OK, with your additional information I have to say, this would irritate me. She doesn't acknowledge you but she gets gifts for DH and has them come from the girls and her (MIL)? Um, no. That is weird.

I guess if she is generally not pushy I would let it go, but it depends on how much she inserts herself otherwise and blocks out you.[/quote]
