Is there professional lacrosse or is it an Olympic sport? Or is there a lot of money to be made in broadcast rights or merchandise? If not, why do colleges give scholarships to players? How does that help the universities?
Not OP, but this is such a lame question. There actually is professional lacrosse but until recently, was not much of a big deal. Paul Rabil became the first professional lacrosse player to secure $1 million in endorsements recently. Division 1 lacrosse is broadcast on EspnU. I think the school I attended -- Johns Hopkins -- does make a fair amount from merchandising of lacrosse merchandise and would expect that most of the ACC schools with teams do as well as ND, Denver, etc. . . Lacrosse has been part of the olympics in the past and there are efforts to bring it back -- there is a world championship.
