In a front loader it basically crosses the entire width of the machine, not sure if a home front loader door is big enough to put it inside, I went to the laundromat in because I have a top loader too. There is a tab behind the frame that you push in and then push through where it is attached to the frame (hopefully this makes sense when you are looking at it) Of course this is on the 2011, not sure if anything changed on newer model.
