In other words: tested semifinalist admitted % of tested admitted % of semifinalists admitted Carson 239 178 83 35% 47% Rocky Run 179 133 56 31% 42% Longfellow 166 126 54 33% 43% Kilmer 165 106 32 19% 30% Frost 103 67 23 22% 34% Lake Braddock 89 58 15 17% 26% Jackson 74 42 12 16% 29% Twain 81 30 11 14% 37% Another way to look at it is that there are now over 150 disappointed kids at Carson, vs. just over 60 at Jackson. Parents of high-performing kids who really want to get in may not necessarily be making a wise decision gravitating to the pressure cooker middle schools.
Odd logic. How do you improve your chances of getting in by going to a school with a lower admissions rate? Only works if you assume the other applicants from that middle school aren't really serious or equally qualified, which seems rather condescending.
