Put the kid in the stroller, put the car seat on an old school luggage cart (Target or WalMart) tied with bungees (not sure you should strap it to your back that pregnant???) and have your backpack.  I wouldn't check my carseat, either, and still travel with it a lot and my son is 3.  I just recently ditched the stroller because we either have one at the destination or just really don't need it anymore.
