Also, the reality is that for desirable charters you're highly unlikely to get a spot for 2014-2015 unless you're entering into an upper grade possibly (although even then its pretty hard!). But you never know since some schools are in expansion years or just don't have that many applicants for a certain grade. But I'd at least apply in the common lottery (I think round 2 is May 15) and to any charters who aren't participating in common lottery - even though they've already had their lottery you can get on the wait list. Otherwise - try for a good charter that isn't as high on everyone's radar - Shining Stars comes to mind for example.
