That is a county wide/curriculum 2.0 mandate.  It has nothing to do with the HGC and it doesn't vary across HGC's. 
My child is in compacted math at his HGC and I would say that, even though the compacted math curriculum would have been the same at his home school, at the HGC there are very strong math students so the entire class moves at a good pace and gets into the math topics in a different/deeper way than they would be able in the home school.  For example, the home school would have had a compacted math class with, say, 25 kids.  But, only a couple of those kids would be the stronger math kids in the grade.  At the HGC, you have the 25 strongest math kids from a variety of elementary schools all together in  one classroom.  That changes what that compacted math can do.[/quote]
