They shifted it to another person in the company while I was gone. She got a bonus for doing two people's job for 6 months. We had a "back up coverage" model though so she already knew the people I worked with and the work we did fairly well and vice-versa. You're not OBLIGATED to tell them, but I personally would feel wrong about accepting a job and then leaving in a few months for a few months if they didn't know that was in the cards before they made a formal offer. Just feels disingenuous to me.[/quote]
