I don't understand the previous poster's attitude. Knowing where the kids go after high schools can guide a parent's decision on where to buy houses, what kind of enrichment to get the kids. I don't care to know the individual outcomes, and that is really not my business. There ought to be a source of college placement data for all the high schools. Are you also not paying attention to where the colleges are placing their graduate as well? If so, better start paying attention. Because where you attend and what you study matters.
I am the "not my business" PP. What I don't think is my business is how many graduates went to Harvard, Xavier, Michigan, UMCP, Frostburg State -- individual outcomes. And no, I wouldn't let that guide my decision on where to buy a house. As the PP said, getting into a fancy college is not contagious. It's also not an indicator of the quality of the education at the high school. It's an indicator of who the graduates' parents are. I already know who my children's parents are. What kind of college placement data are you looking for that do not include the individual outcomes? Whether the graduates didn't go to college, went to a two-year college, or went to a four-year college? That's a different question. I don't have any problem with MCPS making those data public.
