The current essay grading is a joke. It rewards checking off certain boxes but not good writing. I say good riddance. The current SAT takes points off for guessing which never made sense to me and I'm glad they are getting rid of that. It was just another way kids could game the system is they took prep courses and learned when to and not to guess. I wouldn't say its dumbing ltself down. I took the old 1600 SAT and it wasn't easy. Its a stupid test anyway and doesn't come close to measuring how someone will do in college. I do hate teh College Board but I mostly focus my distain for the APs. Total money grab.[/quote] I just wrote a $445 check for AP tests. That's not small change.
And then the SAT Subject test bill will come and then the biggest ripoff of all - you have to pay more fees to send scores all these scores to individual colleges. For all the SATs, APs, SAT Subjects, Bluebook, and processing fees we paid over $1000 to the College Board. The College Board also charges extra to "rush scores," switch exam dates, chose a stand-by date, use the "question and answer" service. Then the College Board sells its list of names, making more money. The whole thing is a huge scam, feeding off college admissions anxiety.
