The Seeing Eye does not have puppy raiser  placement in the DC area.  Puppy raisers do not do the training.  Puppy raisers are volunteer individuals and families. It is in Morristown NJ and puppies generally are raised from DE up to the NYC area.  Some dogs do go to law enforcement agencies.  I have seen dogs in training etc and it would be grossly unfair for one of these dogs to go to an individual who doesn't want to be bothered with the basics for Labs, Goldens and German Shepherds like housetraining etc.  [/quote]
I knew that someone would comment on my not wanting the trouble of a puppy! :-)  I have had my share of puppies over my life time as I have owned and taken care of dogs since I was a child.  I am 50 and don't feel like housebreaking another puppy nor dealing with those sharp little puppy teeth.  That does not mean I am a bad person and do not "deserve" a dog.[/quote]
