DS 1 is in 6th now. Was in pool with 99% cogat, 97% Naglieri. Almost all 4's. Same deal with lower organization grades, etc. GBRS ended up at 9. Not in. Appealed, but could not afford WISC, so just letters and better work samples. Rejected on appeal. Principal did not place in LLIV group. I was upset as since K teachers had said they were certain he'd be in. In 3rd, his school had AAP co-taught . One teacher taught math and science, the other LA and Social Studies. Both taught AAP and Gen Ed. In those subjects. His teacher told me in week 2 he needed to be in AAP and that I should parent refer. Parent referred in 3rd. In first round. No new test scores. Just work samples, and questionnaire. Straight 4's in 4-6 AAP. I assume his GBRS was higher. Incidentally, he was diagnosed with ADHD in mid 4th. Just had a conversation with his 6th grade teacher about what happened. She she was appalled that he had been passed over. She was frustrated that in his case, they did not recognize a well known fact in the gifted education community, that it is not uncommon for gifted students to also have ADHD and/or organizational issues.
