You can post your résumé there for schools to review and they compile a nice list of openings.  I've found that the cover letter matters a lot.  Really review the school's website and the specific opening and tailor your cover letter to accentuate your experiences that they appear to be looking for.  Emphasize how your experience is similar to their school (you've taught in a Catholic school and are applying to teach in another one, or even that you attended a Catholic school growing up.). Make yourself seem "familiar."   At the same time, think of ways you can stand out.  Perhaps this could be by using appropriate humor or describing a neat lesson you've done.

If you are interested in teaching high school, it is often easier to get in the door at the middle school level.  Beware though that middle schools know that a lot of people use it as a step to high school, so they will often be interested in how you can see yourself working with middle schoolers (who are a special breed).

Schools are often looking for people who can coach or run extracurriculars, so I would also emphasize that. If you have any "unique" experiences, they are also good to mention.  Private schools seem very interested in international travel or volunteer work.
